Americans with passports

Of the 311 million-plus citizens in the United States, only 30% have passports. Does this mean Americans do not care about other countries and other cultures?

This number is surprising, however until 2007, Americans did not need a passport to enter Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean islands. That is quite a few countries to visit without having the need for a passport. Now that this rule no longer applies, do you think many more Americans will finally apply for a passport? A recent poll asked users if in five years from now, the percentage of passport holders will increase or decrease. About 60% of voters said that this number will stay the same.

What do you think?
